Oakville Real Estate: Your Neighbourhood Guide
01.28.2021 | Community Guide
For a lakeside town with a strong heritage and high quality of life, look no further than Oakville. This sought-after destination boasts a vibrant community with top schools, views, and downtown charm.
What I Love
From the beautiful waterfront sunsets to the local history to the amenities and community, I love Oakville for its ability to maintain a sense of character while catering to the modern family.
Oakville Real Estate
The Oakville real estate market is top-tier, mainly comprising freehold homes and some townhomes. The average home price is approximately $1.4 million to $1.6 million. Since Oakville is home to Sheridan College, many of the surrounding apartment buildings and homes are tenanted by students.
Your New Neighbours
Overall the majority of Oakville residents are seniors and families, as the cost of living in Oakville is quite high. There are a number of highly-rated private schools here, including St. Mildred’s Lightbourn School and Appleby College. This draws many families to the area who wish to offer their children quality education and opportunities for travel.
Did You Know: The Oakville Lighthouse, located next to the marina, was first built in 1836. After damage from a storm, the lighthouse was rebuilt in 1889 and is considered a heritage structure.
What to See & Do
Take a walk through downtown Oakville and find a new favourite shop, cafe, or restaurant—or all three! There are plenty of fantastic, locally-owned options here. Take a relaxing stroll through Gairloch Gardens or one of the many beautiful parks in town. If you’re lucky enough to be in Oakville for one of their community events—including Midnight Madness, Ribfest, or the annual Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival—be sure to attend!
Getting Around
Oakville is a very walkable community, with many shops and restaurants within walking distance to most neighbourhoods, and the mall is just a short car ride away. With cross-city transit, a GO Transit station, and easy access to major highways, Oakville offers easy commuting options in and out of the area.

Lorne Park Mississauga: Your Neighbourhood Guide
01.28.2021 | Community Guide
In my opinion, the mark of a truly great community is when residents who have moved away come back to raise their families there. Lorne Park is the perfect example; this Mississauga community is one where the entire family can thrive.
What I Love
Lorne Park is a high-end community with no shortage of green space. You’ll find amazing biking and walking paths throughout the neighbourhood, especially when you venture to Rattray Marsh Conservation Area. This conservation area has everything you need for a hike, bike ride, or a relaxing walk to take in the scenery and wildlife.
Lorne Park Real Estate
There’s a small number of condo-townhomes in Lorne Park starting at $800,000, as well as a selection of renovated homes that typically sell for $2,000,000. Homeowners here take great pride in their properties; many boast well-kept lawns and gardens with beautiful curb appeal.
Your New Neighbours
As a multi-generational community, your neighbours will likely have a wide age range. The community has highly-rated schools, including Lorne Park Secondary School, which has a thriving support system. Residents here are also just a quick transit ride away from specialty high schools that focus on the arts or science.
Did You Know: Rattray Marsh is one of the last remaining waterfront marshes between Toronto and Burlington, making it all the more special.
What to See & Do
Spend the day walking along the trails of Rattray Marsh—the wide, raised platforms are perfect for a quick morning run. When you’re done, head to Lakeshore where you can have your pick of restaurants and enjoy a great meal. If you want to explore another outdoor area, the Whiteoaks Park Trail, which winds along the repurposed hydro field corridor, is an excellent option.
Getting Around
For those who love biking—or want to bike more—Lorne Park is a fantastic fit. It’s a huge biking community and is also very walkable. The express route at the Clarkson GO Station will take commuters to Union Station in 12 minutes, making this community a great option for those who want to live outside the downtown core.

Living in Streetsville: Your Neighbourhood Guide
01.28.2021 | Community Guide
What transforms an area into a true, tight-knit community? Is it the “hellos” shared between neighbours each morning? The comfort you feel as you walk along the familiar streets? Or the moment you realize you’re on a first-name basis with the owners of all your favourite spots?
In Streetsville, it’s all of those things and more.
What I Love
Streetsville is a community for those who love community. It’s a place where you can foster lifelong relationships, and where you’ll see the entire neighbourhood come out for the ever-popular community events.

The real estate market here mostly comprises freehold homes, which typically sell for around $1.5 million. There are also townhomes, which are priced from the low $700,000s.
Your New Neighbours
Streetsville’s homes and amenities were made for everyone in mind; young families to retirees alike are able to thrive here. Even those working in the city can enjoy a simple commute and come home to Streetsville to relax.
Did You Know: Nestled along the Credit River, Streetsville was settled by Timothy Street in 1824. There were once five mills along the fast-moving stretch of the river where the community now stands.
What to See & Do
Don’t let the small-town feel mislead you—Streetsville is home to excellent shops, as well as cafes and restaurants that will satisfy any “foodie.” Grab a delicious meal then take a relaxing walk along the Credit River, and if you brought your four-legged friend along, take them to the community’s drive-in, self-serve dog wash! Streetsville really does cater to the whole family.
Getting Around
Streetsville has all the charm of a close-knit community while still being centrally located. You’ll most likely be able to walk to the many local shops that cater to modern families. Even the schools are within short walking distance.
